چکیده
Gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms are a source of substantial morbidity for people with CF (PwCF), and their assessment treatment present an unmet need. We introduced 3 validated patient reported outcome measures (PROMS) questionnaires investigating GI into routine clinical assessment. evaluated the prevalence severity upper lower in our population. also assessed acceptability using GI-PROMS as tool standard clinic encounter well before after treatment. Of 332 PwCF attending 2022, 327(98%) were offered questionnaires. 12 (3.7%) declined or unable to complete them. For PAGI-SYM (patient symptoms) mean total score was 0.16 (range 0–0.88, SD 0.18); PAC-SYM (constipation) 0.12 0–0.86, 0.16) RSI (reflux symptom index) 6.7 0–38, 7.36). specific domains moderate/severe were: nausea 11%, fullness 30%, bloating 26%, abdominal pain 13%, 12%, heartburn 18%, rectal 15%, stool 23%. 85% patients indicated that completing would be acceptable when they attend clinics report significant level symptoms. It is feasible use part outpatient These could incorporated annual review process lead multidisciplinary consultation focused on symptoms, trials interventions, further investigation referral other specialist services needed. متن کاملNovel Outcome Measures for Clinical Trials in Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a common inherited condition caused by mutations in the gene encoding the CF transmembrane regulator protein. With increased understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying CF and the development of new therapies there comes the need to develop new outcome measures to assess the disease, its progression and response to treatment. As there are limitations to the curr...
